Dreams Turned To Dust…
When you think about all the things you want to achieve in life, do you ever stop for a moment and think about what empowered you to dream these dreams?
Could you ever have accomplished everything that you have accomplished in life until now and everything that you will accomplish in the future, without your education?
Probably not.
Would you have ever been able to find the path of righteousness, and act upon the teachings of Islam, if you never were taught what these teachings were?
Would you have ever been able to get where you are today if your parents and guardians had not provided for you and cared for you throughout your childhood?
Probably not.
As a child, everyone is full of hope and dreams.
But what if, everything you dreamed of had come crashing down one day, and you were made the child prisoner of the most horrific of all realities?
Hold on to that thought.
Because for 7 years now, this is what hundreds and thousands of children have been forced to live through. And we, the Ummah who refuses to act, hold just as much of the blame as do their oppressors.
Here’s what happened: In 2017, the people of Rohingya faced the worst possible reality: genocide. Trying to survive and escape the horrors, nearly a million of these people walked for days through dark, unsafe jungles and sailed on make-shift rafts across the raging Bay of Bengal to reach the safety of Bangladesh. Today, the number of these refugees stands at 1 million, and they live in the Cox’s Bazar region — the world’s largest refugee camp.
Among these people are orphaned and vulnerable children who were robbed of their lives, their childhoods, their hopes, and all their dreams. Worse still, many of the children born in these circumstances have never witnessed the joy of life. All they’ve seen is insecurity and despair.
Failed by the world, subjected to a subhuman life in a refugee camp, these children have watched their dreams turn to dust — and they’ve fallen into it themselves.
But what if we told you,
You can pick these children up from the dust, restore their dreams, and help them soar through the skies once again?
Will you take action then?
The only way out of a quicksand ready to engulf you, is to grab onto something.
And we, at Care Beyond Borders, want to give the children and the people of Cox’s Bazaar something to grab onto: Education.
They cannot change their lives if they don’t know how to. And that’s why, in a remote village in the southern district of Cox’s Bazar of Bangladesh, we are changing lives one student at a time at Abu Bakr Siddique R. Education Center.
At the center, we aim to educate Rohingya refugees sheltered in Cox’s Bazar and the children of the local disadvantaged community and pave the way for future Islamic leaders and world leaders.
The institute, established in 2012 for the community, is now under the care of CBB and has become a beacon of knowledge for the Rohingya refugees too. So far, thousands of children have already completed their studies without having to pay any fees. But we still have a long, long way to go.
Through Abu Bakr Siddique R. Education Center, we aim to provide a normal childhood to even more students and help them achieve their dreams through the power of both, Islamic and worldly education.
All of this is great, but there’s just one tiny problem:
Everything the center offers is free for every attendee.
And this means… The operations depend completely on the donations we receive. For the 2024 academic year, we need a total of nearly $54,000 to continue operating.
‘I and the one who sponsors an orphan shall be in Paradise like these two’ — and he raised his index finger and the one next to it, holding them together, barely separate”
(Bukhari, No. 5304)
On its own, sponsoring an orphan is already a deed that earns you the highest rank in the hereafter. But, here’s the best part: YOU are reading this appeal in the best 10 days of the year!
Dhul Hijjah is one of the 4 most sacred months of the year for the Ummah, and its first 10 days are even more blessed and rewarding than the last 10 days of Ramadan.
So, if you donate today, you will earn massive rewards for:
Educating a Child
Dawah
Imparting knowledge about Islam and the world (Sadaqah e Jariyah)
Doing one of the best deeds in Allah SWT’s most beloved 10 days
Needless to say, you probably will not get the chance to avail an opportunity this huge once again…
Provision of education, resources, and study material to students
Extra-curricular Activities in the school
Masjid operations
Dawah programs
Staff salaries
Operating on an Islamic curriculum as well as a governmental curriculum, the school has 3 sections: Furqania, Madrasah, and Hifz division.
Under these divisions, our staff of 19 qualified and meritorious individuals teaches the Holy Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, Tafsir, Sirat, Modern Sciences, Mathematics, Art & Calligraphy, General Information, and more to more than 650 students.
Also, the center doubles as a Madrasah and Islamic center. We currently have a staff of 10 teachers for the Madrasah division, 2 hafizes for the Hifz division, an imam and a Muazzin for the mosque, and 2 assistants for all sections.
At the center, we focus on not just education, but also training, cultural awareness, sports, advocacy and charitable activities, and advocacy programs. Some of the highlights of our programs include:
Distribution of school supplies and lunches to all children
Daily lectures by the Imam after Zuhr Prayers, Fiqh lessons after Asr, and Quran recitation lessons for adults after Maghrib
Weekly missionary tour of teachers to the neighboring villages to give Dawah to the locals
Monthly meetings with regional and governmental officials and local elders to exchange views about the area’s situation
Events and ceremonies like Guardian meetings, award distribution, and Islamic preaching ceremonies
Annual study tours and trips for the intellectual development and entertainment of students
So, in essence, when you donate, you not only help us educate these children, but you also help us provide dawah, build a base for a better tomorrow for the Cox’s Bazaar region, and enable these children to become self-sufficient and self-reliant adults as they break free of the shackles of poverty and make their mark in the world.
